Red Rose Garden – Beginner’s Guide

Although it may seem like a difficult task but it reality it really isn’t. All you will need is well-watered fertile ground.

The best time to plant rose bushes is between spring and autumn but preferably spring. 

Red Rose Root Planting

If you are planting bare roots, soak them at least for 24 hours before sowing in the ground. Dig a two feet deep hole and place the stem into the soil.  Cover the borrow with manure backfilling the hole. 

Watering your Red Rose

Watering is crucial for healthy rose plants. It requires about an inch of water level throughout the growth season (spring). Although watering can be done before the onset of a new plant, it is recommended that watering be done with soaker hoses at soil line. Since roses are very susceptible to fungal infections, they should be treated regularly to prevent diseases.

Fertilizer for Red Rose

Fertilizing is ideal during the growth season of the rose bushes. It should be done by following the instructions of the fertilizer label. Manure can be added for optimal results. However, a mulching can assist in retaining moisture as well as insulate the soil for winter season.

Red rose Pruning

Last but not the least, pruning red rose is crucial in keeping the plant groomed and well-shaped to bloom to its best shape. Pruning is ideal when leaf buds start to appear on the plant. Look out for bud eyes as they will be your guide to pruning out any unwanted branches and twigs.

Planting a rose garden may seem difficult but in truth it isn’t all that. Just provide them with regular water, a bit of fertilizer and some healthy pruning. And voila, beautiful roses await you in the garden.
